I am looking for free dental care for a friend who has no insurance. We live in Indianapolis.?

Q. I know there are places in the Indianapolis he can go, but I don't know where they are. He has no dental insurance of any kind. Or if he pays, he will need to find a dentist who will accept payments.

A. See list of free or low cost dental care providers in Indianapolis at the link below.

What's the significance of that painting? The one of a farmer with pitch fork and his wife looking at him?
Q. What's it called and what's its significance?
I have the feeling its iconic in some way. If yes than what?

A. American Gothic
by Grant Wood, 1930
Oil on beaverboard
74.3 62.4 cm, 29¼ 24½ in
Art Institute of Chicago

From
http://www.bookrags.com/research/american-gothic-sjpc-01/
This painting of a stern-visaged, tight-lipped, nineteenth-century country couple posed in front of their pristine farmhouse has become not only one of the most reproduced images in American popular culture, it has also virtually become emblematic of the moral fiber and simple virtues for which America is said to stand. Painted by Grant Wood in 1930, American Gothic has been interpreted both as homage to the artist's Midwestern roots and as slyly witty commentary on American "family values." After winning an important prize in 1930, American Gothic quickly became, as Robert Hughes notes, "Along with the Mona Lisa and Whistler's Mother one of the three paintings that every American knows. One index of its fame is the number of variations run on it by cartoonists, illustrators, and advertisers. The couple in front of the house have become preppies, yuppies, hippies, Weathermen, pot growers, Ku Klux Klaners, jocks, operagoers, the Johnsons, the Reagans, the Carters, the Fords, the Nixons, the Clintons, and George Wallace with an elderly black lady." In the visual culture of the millennium, American Gothic remains the most potent and pervasive symbol of America's heartland mythology, as witnessed by its perpetual permeation into all areas of popular culture.

From
http://www.bookrags.com/wiki/American_Gothic
In 1930, Grant Wood, an American painter with European training, noticed a small white house built in Carpenter Gothic architecture in Eldon, Iowa. Wood decided to paint the house along with "the kind of people I fancied should live in that house." He recruited his sister Nan to model the woman, dressing her in a colonial print apron mimicking 19th century Americana. The man is modeled on Wood's dentist, Dr. Byron McKeeby of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Wood entered the painting in a competition at the Art Institute of Chicago. The judges deemed it a "comic valentine," but a museum patron convinced them to award the painting the third medal and $300 cash prize. The patron also convinced the Art Institute to buy the painting, where it remains today. The image soon began to be reproduced in newspapers, first by the Chicago Evening Post and then in New York, Boston, Kansas City, and Indianapolis. However, Wood received a backlash when the image finally appeared in the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Iowans were furious at their depiction as "pinched, grim-faced, puritanical Bible-thumpers". One farmwife threatened to bite Wood's ear off. Wood protested that he had not painted a caricature of Iowans but a depiction of Americans.

Art critics who had favorable opinions about the painting, such as Gertrude Stein and Christopher Morley, also assumed the painting was meant to be a satire of rural small-town life. It was thus seen as part of the trend towards increasingly critical depictions of rural America, along the lines of Sherwood Anderson's 1919 Winesburg, Ohio, Sinclair Lewis' 1920 Main Street, and Carl Van Vechten's The Tattooed Countess in literature. However, with the onset of the Great Depression, the painting came to be seen as a depiction of steadfast American pioneer spirit.

Is there a dental school in Indianapolis that will do your dental work for free?
Q.

A. No dental school anywhere will do your work for free. All dental schools, however, do work at a significantly reduced cost. Plan on making several trips there without having your chief complaint addressed, too. Things take quite a bit longer to get done in a dental school than in private practice. The best part about it is that you will have the opinions and experience of several dentists rather than just one in a private office. I hope I answered your question.

Does anyone know of a dentist in Indianapolis that will see you then bill you later?
Q. I have a terrible toothache, and don't get paid until next week!!I need a dentist that has flexible billing.

A. omg!! i hope you do. toothache is a terrible thing to suffer with and there should be this service as unemployed get it free, you are just asking for an installment plan!

Soft Tissue Laser Surgery for Cold Sores?

Q. I am looking for anyone who knows of a dentist, oral surgeon or dermatologist who performs soft tissue laser surgery for cold sores around the mouth area. I would prefer to know of any one who performs this surgery around the Indianapolis Indiana area. Thanks!
FYI... this is a new technique. Some people suffer with continual outbreaks & NO Abreva DOES NOT work in these cases. Maybe you ought to do some reserach to find out about new discoveries by the medical & dental institutes before you say to revoke someones license!

A. There's no need to do laser surgery on a cold sore and anyone who does should have their medical license revoked.

Put some Abreva on them daily - just a little bit - and they will disappear.

I am studying dentistry and looking for a university?
Q. In Cairo univeristy- Egypt
After I take my bachelor degree I wish to make more studies in a good college abroad like USA.
Could anyone give me details about good colleges and what should i do to be accepted

A. Make sure you are taking chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, and physics. These are the prerequisites to get into dental school. Some schools may have additional requirements so it's important that you check out the schools you are applying to in order to be sure of their requirements. You will also have to take the DAT (Dental Admission Test). Make sure you have a high GPA and high DAT score... these are the two most important things. Try to get some volunteer experience in a dental setting if possible. A letter of recommendation from at least one dentist is desirable.

There are only 50 dental schools in the US. The rankings are as follows:

1. Harvard University (MA)

2. Johns Hopkins University (MD)

where are dentist that put you to sleep for extract in the indianapolis area?
Q.

A. Just a heads up,you may not want them to give you a drug called Versed

In fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.

Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation, twilight sleep, so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort.HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THOSE SENSATIONS WILL NOT BE EXPERIENCED!!!!Forgetting does no mean it did not happen!! Amnesia does NOT take place for some patients.

IT'S NOT MY INTENTION FOR YOU TO NOT GET THE PROCEDURE DONE, JUST INFORMING YOU THAT YOU MAY WANT IT DONE WITH ANOTHER DRUG!!!!!

How long is the process of getting "braces"?

Q. From the first appointment to the time they're on how long does that normally take...??
I don't have any problem that would be extra time
I have
-short top gums and teeth
-overbite
-crooked and jammed together top and bottom

Please help-time length and price for Indianapolis,Indiana
Hello......whould someone read the WHOLE question...Yeah I know you get braces for years...if you read it i asked how long the process to get them "ON" not "OFF" Please will someone answer the question....ten points to whoever answers what i asked....Thanks
Does it take days,weeks,months...
Please Help

A. The whole process depends on how fast your orthodontist gets you in, whether you need extractions or any other work before braces. I am in the process of getting braces. My consultation appointment was on Feb. 8. At this appointment, I had x-rays and the molds of my teeth done. I went back 2 weeks later to discuss treatment and payment options. I was told I had to get 4 teeth extracted. Luckily, my dentist got me in the following week. My orthodontist wanted me to wait 2 weeks for my gums to heal before I went back to get spacers. Unfortunately, after I made the appointment, they said he was gonna be out of town and that meant I had to wait 3 weeks instead of 2. I get my spacers on the 22nd and braces on the 29th. Some orthodontists take every measure possible to not include extractions as part of treatment. Hopefully, if this is the case with you, your dentist will be able to get you in soon. Just check out a few orthodontists before you pick one. Most orthodontists offer consultations for little to no fee. Some orthodontists offer payment plans through their office with "x" amount down and so much each month with no interest. Some also offer financing through companies like Capital One or Care Credit. Usually if you pay in full up front, you will get a discount. Usually about $400 or so. I am getting ceramic braces on top and metal on the bottom and its costing me $6000. I have an overbite and crowding and my orthodontist is estimating that I will have to wear braces for 2 years. On average, braces are between $3000-$7000. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of further help.

Oh yeah, I am in Illinois.

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in the Indianapolis area?
Q. Looking for a new dentist in the Indianapolis area...preferably on the south, southeast or east side.

Two criteria for starters...that he/she works with Delta Dental Insurance and the office does whitening trays.

It's okay if you don't know if they work with Delta Dental or not. I can look that up.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...and tell me why you like your dentist.

A. i live in fort wayne and go to dr. scheele
