Are there any free or low cost dental clinics in the phoenix area?
Q. not a suburb of phoenix i mean like phoenix itself.
or places that take very low monthly payment plans?

A. A T Still University
Arizona's first dental school opened in 2003. Anyone who does not have a comprised health condition (for example, unusually high blood pressure) qualifies for dental care. A visit with a student dentist costs about half what it would cost for a regular dental visit. Specific fees will be outlined for each patient prior to treatment. Licensed doctors and specialists perform x-rays, mouth examinations and review oral health history. Procedures are performed by 3rd and 4th year dental students under close supervision of licensed faculty dental specialists.
Dave Pratt Dental Clinic
Housed at the the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix in south central Phoenix, the Dave Pratt Dental Clinic provides dental care at very low cost to economically disadvantaged children aged 5 to 18 years who do not qualify for dental insurance. The Dave Pratt Dental Clinic is a full-service facility providing comprehensive oral examinations, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealant, fillings, extractions, root canals, and emergency treatments. The Clinic is open Tuesday through Friday.
Mesa Community College Dental Hygiene Program
The Mesa Community College Dental Hygiene clinic offers a full range of comprehensive dental hygiene services at fees less than most private dental practices. The Dental Hygiene clinic sees patients from late August through mid May in the evenings, Monday through Thursday. East Mesa.
Midwestern University Dental Institute
The Midwestern University Dental Institute provides most of the same services you would get at a private dental office at 30% to 50% less than you might pay at a typical dentist's office. Glendale.
Phoenix College Dental Hygiene Clinic
If you are a new patient, or it has been over two years since your last visit, your first visit will be for screening purposes only. At this appointment, a supervised dental hygiene student will gather data to determine your eligibility to receive dental hygiene care at the clinic. The facility is closed approximately five months per year (winter, spring and summer breaks and all other observed holidays). Phoenix.
Rio Salado College School of Dental Hygiene
The school offers dental cleanings for $25. Monday through Friday. Downtown Phoenix.

How can I release the pain of wisdom teeth?
Q. One of my widom tooth is hurting. I don't see anything wrong but a hole behind the teeth. When I open my mouth or swallow, it husts. What can I do except going to dentist?

A. 800 mg of ibuprofen every eight hours with food. this relieves inflammation as well as relieves pain. you can rotate this with tylenol 1000mg every six hours.
EXample: at 8am take the ibuprofen. you'll take that again @ 4pm. in the interim, you can use tylenol say -- @ 12pm then again @ 6pm.
don't use aleve (naproxen) and ibuprofen together. they're too close to being the same drug. don't use those on an empty stomach. don't use aspirin in case there is any potential bleeding problem. don't take too much tylenol. don't use tylenol at all if you have a known liver problem.
YOU CAN ALSO -- use ice on the outside of your face. Even suck on ice. if ice is too large to suck on, put it in a washcloth and crush it with a mallot (or bottom of a HEAVY coffe mug or meat tenderizer or hammer. ha!) and then place the washcloth with the crushed ice enveloped in it, in your mouth. but yes -- DENTIST!
most "COUNTY HOSPITALS" have a dental clinic that is free if you don't have health insurance. they usually ONLY do extractions, give antibiotics and pain relievers. it's first come, first served here in phoenix. it opens @ 6 AM here and i would tell my patients to show up @ 530AM to insure they would be seen (the line gets long) and hopefully, they can get in and out sooner than waiting in line all day and not being seen.
TMJ (jaw joint) problems can SEEM like wisdom teeth problems. if it's TMJ instead, sleep on your back - not sides or stomach, don't chew gum, relax your jaw (keep lips closed but teeth apart. it's hard at first and can make jaw muscles tired -- but it's usually less painful than the pain you're having now & you get used to doing it), and the same ibuprofen / tylenol / ice regimen will help! good luck!

Where in Phoenix / Mesa Area can I purchase Flouridex toothpaste?
Q. I need a dentists office that would sell Flouridex Toothpaste. I would prefer to purchase it locally in the Mesa, AZ area but other suggestions as to where to purchase it would be ok.

A. Try eBay.
