What should I get this for these people?

Q. I'm planning to get my boss and coworker cologne/perfume, but not sure what kind. I'm not a fan of perfumes, but figure it would be easier that way as gifts. If you have any ideas on what I should besides that, please let me know. My price range is from 20-40 dollars. Also, I am avoiding homemade cookies for these people. Oh, and if you know any good cologne/perfume please let me know too. Thanks!

A. In my opinion something that's cute for a boss are those metal people doing a job. You see it sometimes in a doctors office, dentist or even on a teacher's desk. There basically twisted metal wire sick figures that are posed to seem like there doing a particular job, in this case a man sitting at a work desk would be approietee if you work in an office. You can personalize it to say the bosses name. They usually cost 25-35 dollars. For a co- worker nick knacks for their work space is nice. Candles, photo frames, body lotions from bath and body works ( if it's a girl). A place where they sell amazing smelling candles are a place called Yankee Candles. They literally have all the scents under the sun. The prices can range from 10-35 dollars depending on the size. I hope I helped and Happy Holidays!!

What is a good gift for a new dentist?
Q. A friend just graduated from dental school, what should I get him? Is there a book that would be good for a new dentist?

A. Wind-up chattering teeth

what can i get a coworker for secret santa gift that i barely know?
Q. we work in a dental office, and he works once a week. i barely see him, and when i do, its only for a few minutes. hes an older african american gentlemen, and hes gay. no offense to anyone, but i dont know what to get a gay black man. also, i need this gift by friday! any suggestions?

A. Gift cards are nice: Starbucks, a gas card . . . you didn't say how much you're spending . . . a photo frame, a box of candy (you can get a 6-piece box of Godiva chocolates for $6-8 or so). Some people don't like to give candy -- and maybe you dont' because you work in a dentist's office -- but I figure a nice treat and then nothing they feel compelled to keep or guilty about throwing out. A Christmas ornament, if you know he celebrates Christmas. You can get a little keychain sized Swiss Army knife for $10 -- silly, but I love mine and use it all the time.

Is it customary to bring a gift and if so, what for a business grand opening?
Q. My friend is having a Grand Opening for her dentistry office. Is it customary to bring a gift and if so, what for a business grand opening? She is providing snacks and drinks for her RSVP guests

A. I haven't been to many of these. Gifts often come from businesses that expect to do business with the company. Since she is opening a dentistry office, I'd get her some cute plaque related to dentists. If she will see kids, something kids might like to see. My dentist has a few of that type of thing on his wall--the receptionist might have a stuffed tooth on the counter. Flowers are always welcome, too, and should be sent beforehand if possible. If not, be sure to bring a vase and fill it with water yourself.

Give her my congrats. That's a difficult program and a good, understanding dentist is worth the world to us who are afraid to go.
