Q. I need a dentist who is extremely friendly, very, very expierienced w/years and years under his/her belt, I am terrified of dentists offices and will need to be put to sleep, not depressed conciousness, but out cold! Ive never needed anything surgical done by a dentist till now, I need all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and a few small cavities fixed, is there alot of deaths/complications in dental procedures?
A. I have had 7 wisdom teeth pulled and it's not near as scary as you may think. Dr. Finocchiaro is a great person to go to. He is located in Phoenix and it's right off the 51 and Bell.
Plan to have someone pick you up after you get your wisdom teeth pulled because you will be very groggy after they put you out. It is almost a certainty that if you need 4 wisdom teeth removed you will be put unconscious.
Having a good dental hygentist will be extremely important because when an oral surgeon is working on your teeth he can possibly hit a nerve and or break blood vessels in your face. You do run the risk of permanent numbness if you have a dentist that doesn't know exactly what he is doing.
Also keep in mind that you may still see some blackness and swelling from the surgery that will most likely go away in about 2days to a week.
Lastly it is EXTREMELY important that you utilize the cotton swabs and keep the holes from your wisdom teeth clean and clear during the healing process because the only truly painful thing about getting your wisdom teeth pulled happens when you get "Dry Sockets". That is very painful and the way you avoid it is by using your cottonswabs and following the directions that your dentist gives you.
If you see Dr. Finocchiaro tell him Felicia says hi :)
