Considering going abroad for dental work. Bad idea?
Q. I live in USA. I want to get some dental work done. I've read that dental work is considerably cheaper and of the same quality in other countries. I've been thinking about Costa Rica.
Does anyone know if the quality of work and patient care would be the same as one would expect here? Is there somewhere to read dentist reviews posted by people who've had dental work done here and abroad?

How do you research review Dentists in your area?
Q. I've got Cigna Dental Insurance with my company and I'm trying to find a good dentist in my area. San Jose / Fremont , CA area to be exact. Anybody know of any websites I can go to to research review Dentists?
A. This is a tough one. What you have to do is ASK several co-workers who have the same insurance plan that you have who they see as a dentist. I mean, ask at least 20 people. After you've asked 20, you will probably see several different names, but one will come up ten times. This is who you want to go to.
How can I find what a dentist lost his license for?
Q. Ohio dentist lost his license a while back but is back in practice now. I interviewed with him for a job but would like to know more about his background without asking him. I checked Ohio State Dental board but could find anything.
A. The state Dental Board should have history of the actions IF they happened in Ohio. May Dentists are licensed in several states. He may have had action in one state and the other may not have caught the action. Remember, he may not have had his license revoked but only suspended or placed under review. Also, check the National Practitioner Database. This database is easily found and queried.
On an additional note, the action may have taken place while under the employ of the Public Health Service or military. You may want to ask if he served in those areas.
