Q. Ok, why do people go and study to become hygienist?
If its just like 3 years less than becoming a dentist?
I mean they can ask for loans, if they dont have money and they can pay it later,
or is it really because they have family or why?

A. My wife is a hygienist and I'm in dental school and she always gets the question about why hygiene and not dentistry. The main reason is she wants to spend time raising our family. She is a better student than I am and could probably get accepted if she wanted to but it's her preference not to. Hygiene pays very well and it's an extra 4 years of school or about $150,000-$200,000. Not chump change.

Q. Is gaining the required grades to become a dentist or physiotherapist more difficult than actually studying to become one of those things?
I mean, in The UK, you need GCSEs and A Levels to be able to study dentistry or physiotherapy. I was wondering, is it more difficult to gain the required grades to study those things than it is to actually study and pass dentistry or physiotherapy?
More detail, please, chris m. Are you speaking from experience?

A. It is always easier to get grades to get into any field of study. The real challenge comes when you are competing with other students who come with the same grades as you do. Once you begin studying to be a dentist, physiotherapist, or anything else, you have more to learn and at a much deeper level. A lot of people start out to become dentist or physiotherapists, not everyone makes it.
