Q. I am 17 right now, going into my senior year. When I graduate, I will go to college in FL. Then I am planning to move to Denver and become a police officer. Can I apply while I am still in FL, or do I have to go to CO and get set up first?

A. You can apply while in a different state. You can also apply to a hire first department where they hire you and then send you to their academy.
Most of those departments work to make it easier for out of state applicants, such as scheduling testing over a weekend.
They are also very selective, lots apply lots do not make it.
You will need a local state driver's license before you hit the street but not in any academy.

Q. My husband has a gum infection in one of the sites where his wisdom teeth were removed years ago. He can't open his mouth and is in an incredible amount of pain. We don't have health insurance, so where can we go to just get him some antibiotics in Denver?
A. You need a physician or dentist to prescribe some or give you samples. You can get generic antibiotics for $5 at Wal Marts. But be aware that this is only temporary at best. The cause of the infection will still have to be treated. Good luck to him
