what is good career dendistry or becoming medical doctor ?

Q. recently my sister finished her intermediate F.s.c exam which is college or the american equivalent 'A' level so now what is better career for her becoming dentist or medical doctor.

A. both are respectable and awesome jobs. does she like dealing with teeth or the general human body? dentistry is more specialized. it will probably emphasize more on microbiology, considering there are cavities, gum diseases, bacteria to be dealt dealt with in the mouth, whereas a doctor will focus a lot on anatomy, physio, immunology, etc....since they'll be diagnosing a variety of diseases, alleviating symptoms, etc. being an MD will be more stressful though- long hours, many many patients.

it depends on her interests and passion. she should definitely intern with a dentist/MD during college.

What is the procedure for becoming a dentist for someone who's earned a BBA in Business Management?
Q. Hello, I am 25 years of age and have graduated from a well known private University with a degree in Management. My initial plan was to take over my family jewelry business yet recently I have been putting serious thought into becoming a Dentist. My hopes are that I would be able to shave off a year or two from the total amount of years needed to be a dentist since I've already graduated from a 4-year school. Thank you in advance.

A. Unfortunately, courses at the undergraduate level do not count towards courses towards a doctorate (like a DDS for dentists), except in extraordinary circumstances (your courses from your management program will not count).

Because medical programs require practical work, residencies, and/or internships, part of the requirements of reputable programs is the amount of time you put in. The way you might shave time off your course of study is to take extra courses each semester, but that will be very challenging, as the courses are much more time-consuming above the undergraduate level (as befits a new degree of learning!).

The long and short is that you cannot get a DDS or dental degree very quickly, unless you stack courses. Most universities have a rule that you can only take one course above the expected courseload, or two by petitioning the faculty and/or Dean, which is very difficult to do in the first year.

What to major in if I want to become a dentist?
Q. What should I major in undergraduate college if I want to become a dentist? I am a junior in high school. I am thinking biology, but i hate science in general. However, i find dentistry a very good job. Also, what college should I look at for undergraduate and graduate college?

A. Biology is a good one especially when you are dealing with diseases. A well-rounded liberal arts education is desirable or perhaps a dental hygiene could prepare you for becoming dentist since you would be trying to get the feel of how the field is.

What is the best way to become a dentist?
Q. What is the best way of becoming a dentist? What can I do to increase my chances of getting into dental school? Apart from achieving academically? What work can I do that is related to it?

Also how many people can get into dental schools yearly and how many apply for spots?

A. 1. You can work in the community, do some dental related surveys, try to get some publications.

2. You can work at any dentist's office and acquire shadowing experience and reference.

3. The number of applicants and % of accepted candidates have to be obtained from the schools of interest.
