I am taking antiboitics for an abcess tooth; how long should it take for the pain to go away?

Q. I've been on penicillin for about 2 days and it didn't seem to help and I called the dentist emergency line and the dentist prescriped another type of antibiotic because the penicillin didn't seem to help but either way the pain is still hanging around. I get the tooth extracted in about 5 days.

A. FYI IT NORMALLY 2-3 DAYS AFTER AN EFFECTIVE ANTIBIOTIC IS GIVEN FOR IT TO BEGIN TO BE EFFECTIVE.
ALTHOUGH IT WILL NOT TAKE AWAY THE PAIN, IT DOES HELP TO DECREASE THE INFLAMMATION, WHICH DOES CAUSE PAIN. TAKE IBUPROFEN (ADVIL) WHICH ALSO BRINGS DOWN THE INFLAMMATION.
THIS TOOTH EITHER NEEDS ROOT CANAL OR EXTRACTION.

is there such a thing called a free dentist emergency extraction?
Q. i have a very bad tooth and it hurts but im broke is there a dentist that can help ?

A. Go to a Dental School. The students will work on you, possibly for free while a licensed dentist watches over you.

what are the different types of people in a waiting room?
Q. what are the different types of people you would meet in a waiting room
(waiting room for the dentist, emergency room, doctors.. etc)

A. People who are really sick, people who wish there were sick (because it is monday soon), hypochondriacs, (overly) concerned parents, drugaddicts/drunks and old people who are lonely.

my 5 year old son was playing with a 2 liter bottle and pulled out his bottom tooth. It bleeding and he is ups
Q. It wasent loose, it came out and was very long. I called my dentists emergency number but he hasent called me back. What should i do?

A. I would hold a washcloth on it or something until it quit bleeding and wait for your dentist to call you back. It will depend if it is his baby teeth or permanent tooth. Im thinking it will be ok. You could also give him some Tylenol for pain.
