Is there a Dentist in Dallas that will accept children with special needs at the age of 18? If so where?

Q. My daughter has special needs and right now is under the care of a dentist that is addressing her dental needs but when she turns 18 he can no longer accept her as a patient , thus making me find another dentist right away to accommodate her needs. Where should i go? And right now all she has is Medicaid and most dentist will not even accept that as payment , We can not afford a big bill like that without assistance, so what can we do?

A. Yes most will, there is no age limit

What is a good school for dental assisting?
Q. I reside in Dallas, TX & i want to pursue a career in dental assisting, can anyone give me some advice? anything is appreciated thank you so much!

--i have my hs diploma graduated '09 & am 18

A. I'm not sure what requirements Texas has for DAs. If you go to http://www.tsbde.state.tx.us/index.php and on the left hand side of the screen, click on "Licensing and Registrations", they should be able to help you find out what all is required. As far as school, in Arizona, I went to Phoenix College's DA program. Usually, DAs are trained at trade schools or community colleges. My advice would be to make sure whatever program you choose is ADA accredited. It also wouldn't hurt to call several offices in the area and ask dentists what school, in their opinion, produces the best assistants. Hope that helps!!
