Are these reasonable terms to ask my dentist for before he puts in a IV sedation for my wisdom teeth removal? ?

Q. Is it a reasonable request of me to ask the dentist to first give me laughing gas and numbing gel on my arm first and to wait until I'm comfortable enough to let him do the iv? Because I'm terrified of needles and can't do gas alone, I've already tried. I also have schizoaffective disorder and the stress from freaking out about it makes my voices worse. Are these reasonable requests?

A. It is not unreasonable, but it won't happen. It is either Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), or IV sedation, but you won't get both. That is never done. And topical gel will not work on a arm. I have answered you in the past, and I am going to give you the same advice. You need to ask the medical doctor who treats your condition, what is the best way for you to get through this. I am sure he has some ideas.

Is it possible to ask my dentist to make the silver filling he's putting in light colored?
Q. Many of ny buddies have silver fillings, and they all make your teeth look ugly, but some are worse than others. Obviously, the ones that look black are uglier than the ones which are shiny silver. And the shiny silver ones look uglier than the light gray ones with sparkling silver glitter. Can I ask my dentist to make mine light gray? My dentist said I need a silver filling, since my molar has a big cavity in it and silver will hold best.

A. You can chose what's called an inlay/onlay - a tooth coloured ceramic or composite filling instead.

Amalgam fillings change colour with time - oxidation. They lokk horrible no matter what, however, they are incredibly strong and a good filling material. If you chose to have one, you can have it polished every once a while to keep it shiny and new like.

Do you have to ask your dentist for a retainer or can you just go To a orthodontist and get it?
Q. Not very many people think I need one.. But I do.. I haven't had braces and my teeth are really straight. There is just this one tooth that has a gap in between it.. And it bugs me. So.. Can I just go to a orthodontist and get one or do I have to ask my dentist?

A. well they wont let you just put a retainer .. you have to go through the whole process.... & well you dont need to go to your dentist anyways before you get them the orthodontist has to check & see if you need them then they will put braces after braces then a retainer you just cant jump to a retainer
